Jayne,
a young student visitor to a nursing home, meets Emily, an apparently
cantankerous old lady and has her preconceptions challenged by a woman
who is not the grumpy old person the nursing staff had her believe. She
is an intelligent and interesting woman, and the two form a bond
that’s likely to continue into a hopeful future.
Author's Notes The idea for this came from one of my late mother's occasional stays in the North Wales Medical Centre in Llandudno. My mother was always bright and intelligent and someone who resented (often very vocally) any attempts to patronise her. In this play, a student visitor, fulfilling some sort of coursework obligation, come reluctantly to visit the older woman, surprised to find a meeting of minds and an intelligent woman who just happens to be older. Cue the feelgood factor. Past Productions I have recently started adding production photos, posters, etc. If your group has done this play and have any I can use, please contact me. Some
