When Duncan's new-found drinking partner Bob meets Duncan's wife Tracy, they seem to share some guilty secret from the past. Could she be the long-lost lover Bob was boasting about before he emigrated to Australia? Duncan must do something about it, but is rather worried what he himself may have got up to under the influence when out the night before. At their anniversary party some unexpected guests turn up. Duncan tries to force the issue with Bob, but only succeeds in driving the couple away. All is not as it seems, however. Bob is an undercover policeman chasing a drugs smuggler - he is also Tracy's brother!

Author's Notes

Boomerang is a gentle comedy with a few ingredients, from long lost siblings to smuggling. With most of my plays I can remember what inspired them, but all I can remember about this one is having the play complete and not having a title. Then, one night, I was walking to the pub for a beer with my best mate (and most recently best man) Peter Darby and I told him about it. "It's about an Australian that comes home unexpectedly..." I started. Imagine my self-annoyance and embarrassment when he told me the perfect title that hadn't even occurred to me - "Boomerang"!
